A host of staff and student associations at Tampere University have submitted an initiative to University Board to amend the university regulations.
The official Autumn Assembly of Tampere University Association of Researchers and Teachers will take place on Thursday, 28 November, at 4:30 p.m. at Brasserie Astor (Aleksis Kiven katu 26, next to the Central City Square). The session is open for all members. The meeting will decide on all statutory matters and elect a new Board for the Association for the year 2020.
The JUKO shop steward elections were held in August at Tampere University. The (chief) shop stewards chosen for the three-year position have been listed on our website under Contact information in English.
The term of two university board members, mayor Lauli Lyly and executive vice president Pekka Puustinen, will end on 31 December, 2019. The university academic board and the nominating committee are preparing for choosing two new members to replace Lyly and Puustinen, who are set to resign their posts. Tatte wishes to remind the university community and the parties involved in choosing the new board members that the university regulations, in their current form, permit community members to serve on the university board.
The Finnish Union of University Professors released a statement at the end of May 2019 regarding the assignment and transfer of intellectual property rights in the new University. The Union expressed its concern over the universalist application of guidelines and contracts in this field in a way that looks to favor employer interests over those of the employees.

Tampere University begun work in January 2019 to establish and explicate its values. Tatte has taken part in the work by reflecting on the values from the perspective of the union and its membership.
